Abstract
- The article indicates the pneumococcal vaccination to be an important way of preventing pneumonia in Australian aborigines, and that the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council recommendations concerning this usage are appropriate. Studies show it reduces the pneumonia-associated morbidity and premature death experienced by this population, and the vaccination should be offered routinely to those considered to be at risk.
