Abstract

The protonation effects generated by chemicals which comprise the third row of the standard periodic table of elements are identical with those of the second- and first-row chemicals, particularly if the interaction involves CH3XH, C2H3XH, and C2HXH. Experimental results derived from an analysis involving Ge, As, Se and Br indicate that deprotonation effects tend to decrease the CX BDE of saturated compounds, while increasing the CX BLs of unsaturated compounds. Ab initio calculations further suggest that protonation tends to enhance the CC BDEs of saturated chemicals.
