Abstract

A new hereditary tremor disorder in the Pietrain pig breed has been genetically characterized and mapped. Campus syndrome (CPS) is thought to be inherited as an autosomal dominant trait, and the founder boar is thought to be a gonadal mosaic. Myopathological findings in human dominant distal myopathy type 1 (MDP1) are strikingly similar to CPS, thus the porcine disorder may act as an animal model for MPD1.
