Abstract

The use of 'sit'/'stand'/'lie' + and + main verb to express the continuative/durative/progressive in Bulgarian is discussed. Topics include 'sit'/'stand'/'lie' auxiliation in other languages, an account of 'sit'/'stand'/'lie' auxiliation, the role of unmarked/canonical encodings of objects' spatial positions, and grammaticalization of the structure.
