Abstract

The results of a small-scale electromaglev, also called 'active-maglev,' experiment is presented. The experiment focuses on lift data for high temperature superconducting YBCO samples of a 30-mm diameter single disk as well as multiple disks composed of seven, six and three 10-mm diameter disks. The data, interpreted with the zeroth-order theory, led to the development of a phenomenological scaling law correlating the lift forces among the samples.
