Measuring AC-loss in high temperature superconducting cable-conductors using four probe methods

Research was conducted to examine three ways of placing the voltage taps used in four probe measurements of AC-losses in superconducting cable conductor samples. Results indicate that the best method is to pick up the voltage at the normal metal solder joints of such samples. It was shown how the ohmic contribution from these joints can be determined by plotting the differential AC-resistance vs the current.
