Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the evolutions of the uniaxial torque and magnetization with the applied magnetic field which permits a discrimination of the sources of in-plane magnetic anisotropy in amorphous ribbons. A simple model was developed for an inhomogeneous material to determine the magnetic anisotropy sources. The model was applied to explain the different behavior seen in the evolution of the uniaxial torque amplitude with the applied magnetic field of two commercial Co-based amorphous alloys.
