Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the rutin and quercetin absorption and metabolism in rats after in situ perfusion of jejunum plus ileum. it was observed that a high proportion of quercetin disappeared during perfusion in comparison to rutin which reflects an extensive transfer into the intestinal wall. Results provide evidence that a rapid quercetin absorption in the small intestine is very effective along with its active conjugation in intestinal cells.
