Poverty of thinking

Welfare recipients must be included in the national debate on welfare reform recently announced by the Government, not least because they will be affected by any changes. First hand accounts of poverty are contained in a report published by the Child Poverty Action Group on Jul. 28, 1999. The report includes poor people's ideas on ways of combatting poverty as well as their views on the causes of poverty. The wide range of groups contributing to the report shows that welfare is increasingly becoming something that all kinds of people may have to turn to at some point in their life.
