Abstract
- Health maintenance organizations have been controlling costs and raising premiums in 1999 in order to improve profitability after several years of price competition among managed-care companies. Price increases for pharmacy products has been one of the major industry trends in recent years and consolidation within the health care industry has been one of the methods to deal with this expense. Investors need to be selective with these stocks as their prospects can vary widely.
