Interrelation between different mixed cation effects in the electrical conductivity and mechanical loss spectra of ion conducting glasses

A study on mixed alkali glasses with a given overall alkali content compares the electrical conductivity and mechanical loss spectra of several mixed alkali and mixed alkali-alkaline earth glasses. A correlation was found between the difference of the activation energies of the faster and the slower ion transport process and the mixed cation effects in mechanical loss peak height as well as in the frequency response of electrical conductivity.
