Abstract

A model is derived to determine the absolute value of the solid-liquid interfacial energy to pure spherical and polyhedral particles. The model is based on the fundamental theory of intrinsic specific interfacial energy of a solid-liquid interface without adsorption obtained in an earlier study. Comparison of model results with those from experiments involving silver halide sols also showed good agreement.
