Abstract

A study was conducted to analyze a novel compensation technique wherein the uniformly shielded area of the axial magnetic field in a relatively short, open structure axial magnetic shield can be extended. The shield was characterized by five narrowly spaced shells supporting the same length. Experimental results indicated the importance of finding the right combination of two compensating currents for a given external axial magnetic field.
