Abstract
- The commemorative celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Irish rebellion of 1798 tried to recover the lost memories of the Irish people. Historical views of the rebellion were varied, from Sir Richard Musgrave's loyalist interpretation to the liberal R.R. Madden's more balanced treatment. Starting in 1885 increasing numbers of graphic representations of the rebellion appeared in magazines and newspapers.
