Breaking the code of silence

The Wood Royal Commission about corruption in the New South Wales police had some successes but failed in other areas. The commission's aims were admirable and its disclosure of fraudulent practices, abuse of police powers, substance abuse, drug trafficking, unwillingness to investigate internal personnel, and other corrupt practices were useful. However, the Police Commissioner retains too much power and the judiciary was not examined.
