Abstract

Research is conducted to examine a one-dimensional approach for the simulation of the steady-state thermohydraulic nature of a liquid saturated porous layer heated from the bottom or volumetrically. The objective is to derive the limiting dryout heat flux characterized by the formation of a vapor film next to the heated surface. Results indicate that the proposed one-dimensional analysis limits the validity of the exact heat flux values as it ignores the boundary effects particularly for small surfaces.
