Abstract
- The troubles of golf-equipment makers such as Callaway Golf may make golf real estate investment trusts a relatively attractive option for golf investors. Callaway, Taylor Made, and Fortune Brands all suffered when golfers wearied of continually buying larger and more elaborate clubs, such as the titanium driver with tungsten insert offered by both Callaway and Taylor Made in 1998-1999. While stocks of such golf REITs as National Golf Properties and Golf Trust of America have also traded near all-time lows lately, aging demographics are more helpful to golf courses than to equipment makers.
