Abstract

Aerobic capacity and power can be measured by using tests that utilize 75% physical work capacity (pwc) according to age, according to a study of over 1000 men and women between the ages of 18 and 78. Studies often use pwc150% and pwc170%, but results are difficult to extrapolate for older citizens. The pwc75% showed a decline in physical work capacity for older subjects while the pwc150% and pwc170% did not show an expected decline. The pwc75% test should be suited for other studies relating to disease, fitness and aerobic capacity.
