Abstract

More cases of non-voluntary euthanasia are being reported in the Netherlands, but this does not necessarily mean that the number of cases is actually rising. These cases represent a very serious problem, as they can only really be justified in the very few situations where life termination is genuinely a last resort. A shortage of facts makes it difficult to establish a clear public policy on euthanasia and to determine whether tolerating euthanasia is making this practice more common.
