Abstract
- Music should be considered as fundamental to the curriculum as mathematics and reading, instead of being considered as a peripheral activity offered to only a few gifted students. Several studies that present arguments in favor of the implementation of long-term developmental instrumental music programs for all students are presented. It is asserted that music programs should be centered on the mastery of musical instruments including the voice and be aimed at solo and ensemble performance.
