Abstract

The Regional Estimates of VEgetation Abundance from Large Sites (REVEALS) model was used to quantify Holocene changes in vegetation cover in the deciduous forest of southeastern Quebec, Canada. The Extended R-Value (ERV) model was used to obtain relative pollen productivity estimates (PPEs) for eight tree taxa and to determine the relevant source area of pollen (RSAP) for lakes in this ecosystem. Modern vegetation was estimated using pollen data from 16 small ( Key words: relative pollen productivity estimates (PPEs), REVEALS model, pollen-vegetation relationship, Holocene, Quebec. Le modèle REVEALS ([much less than] Regional Estimates of VEgetation Abundance from Large Sites [much greater than]) a été utilisé afin de quantifier les changements de la couverture végétale durant l'Holocène dans une forêt décidue du sud-ouest du Québec, Canada. Le modèle ERV ([much less than] Extended R-Value [much greater than]) a été utilisé pour obtenir l'estimation de la productivité pollinique (PPE, [much less than] pollen productivity estimates [much greater than]) de huit taxons d'arbres et déterminer la source pollinique pertinente (RSAP, [much less than] relevant source area of pollen [much greater than]) pour les lacs de cet écosystème. La végétation moderne a été estimée à l'aide des données polliniques de 16 petits lacs ( Mots-clés : estimation de la production pollinique, modèle REVEALS, relation pollen-végétation, Holocène, Québec.<br />Introduction Traditional paleoecological studies depend on pollen percentage diagrams, pollen concentration, or pollen accumulation rates, which provide insight into the vegetation history of a region. However, the nonlinear relationship between [...]
