Abstract

Controversies surround the deregulation of the telecommunications industry. The passage of the 1996 Telecommunications Act has brought about conflicting views on the various benefits and disadvantages of deregulation. The placement of wireless services has also been met with opposition from various sectors. As a result, a number of local governments have joined the Cellular Tower Coalition to promote both state and local authority in zoning and land-use decisions.
