Abstract
- A study was conducted to determine the feasibility of using deuterium-carbon nuclear magnetic resonance correlation spectroscopy to measure the deuterium quadrupolar couplings in liquid crystals. A fully deuterated nematic 4-n-pentyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl was used since it is a well-characterized model of thermotropic liquid crystal. Results indicated that the method is effective since it can overcome overlap problems.
