Abstract
- Older patients with severe dizziness may develop a related type of vertigo or a cardiovascular disease, depending on the type of presenting symptoms. Researchers linked falls and/or fainting and a history of heart problems to a cardiovascular diagnosis in 28% of the 50 patients examined. Peripheral vestibular disorder, such as common vertigo or Meniere's disease, were diagnosed in 18% of the patients who had related symptoms. No cause was found in 22% of all patients.
