Abstract
- A study was conducted to examine laser-induced back ablation of aluminum thin film targets using picosecond laser pulses. It was assumed that all substrate damage occurs on the substrate front surface. The aluminum targets were characterized by a BK-7 glass strip with an aluminum film on the back surface. The velocity control of metal vapor plumes generated by laser-induced back ablation under substrate breakdown conditions. Experimental results also indicated a transmitted fluence limit consistent with observed edge velocity limits.
