Animating reactions: a low-cost activity for particle conceptualization at the secondary level

Chemistry students at the secondary level can learn about matter and its behavior at the particle level by making flip books with about twenty 3 x 5 cards. The books allow an illusion of motion and are best used for a rather simple reaction. The students need to be sure to use a color code or labeling system to make representations of atoms identifiable.
