Abstract

A study showed Native American women living in rural Oklahoma experience a reduction in bone density and an increase in bone turnover after menopause. The study suggests bone mineral density in the hip and spine of Native American women may be higher, and postmenopausal rate of bone loss may be greater than in white women.
