Factors associated with waiting time for surgery

Researchers conducted a study to explore the factors linked with waiting times for surgery in Australian public hospitals. Participants included 691 adult patients entering a computerized booking list between 16 and 22 Nov 1994. Patients were interviewed and followed up over a period of 18 months. Their results revealed that surgical specialty, urgency rating, employment status, and health insurance status were directly associated with wafting time.
