Abstract: A two-day international workshop conducted by Volvo, the Swedish car manufacturer, in November 1984, examined the crucial role of people in corporate success. Conference speakers argued that people are essential resources of a company, without their complete support and involvement, innovation and change become nearly impossible. The challenge for Volvo (and other companies) is to develop new leadership to keep people involved. 10
