Abstract

Many companies are setting up dual promotional systems to accommodate the need of technical professionals to advance through the corporate structure. Deemed necessary to prevent valued nonmanagement employees from stagnating or leaving, companies are studying 'dual ladder systems' already established to see what works. Dual ladder systems in place at IBM, ITT, Control Data Corporation and elsewhere are profiled.
