API speakers see long term peril in short term view of oil industry

At the recent American Petroleum Institute conference, speakers warned against the petroleum industry's tendency toward a 'glut mentality', which has characterized the attitudes of investors, regulators and lawmakers. Speakers were also concerned with the industry's move toward economic recovery and the stabilization of oil prices. Also discussed was offshore leasing, energy tax legislation and natural gas deregulation.
