Egypt seeks technology transfer

To protect its own borders and to be a stabilizing force in the Near East, Egypt is seeking to modernize its armed forces through buying technology from developed countries. Egypt is interested in phasing out Soviet weapons and hoping to use western military supplies. The scope of their modernizing is analyzed.
