Savings bank ranks swell: conversions by S&L's alter midyear lineup

Abstract

Since the Depository Insitutions Act of 1982 allowed charter changes from savings and loans to federal savings bank, 15 of present top 100 savings banks are newly changed from savings and loans: Great American Federal; Transohio; Pacific First Federal; First Federals of Santurce, Pontiac, Cleveland, and Colorado; Far West Federal; State Savings; Capital Savings; Central Federal; Womens, Fidelity, Home, and Commonwealth Federals.
