Abstract

The effect of the Mn content on the magnetocaloric response of ribbon-shaped amorphous samples of [Fe.sub.80-x][Mn.sub.x][B.sub.20] is analyzed by obtaining the temperature and field dependence of the magnetic entropy change from magnetization curves. A linear relationship between the maximum entropy change and the average magnetic moment per transition metal atom is described.
