Steps to reducing hospital-acquired pressure ulcers

The steps taken by a 166-bed hospital to reduce the incidence of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers are discussed. The hospital's approach included staff-development on pressure ulcer prevention protocol, documentation, setting benchmarks, and the development of a patient education brochure. The hospital was able to decrease ulcers by 82.8% in a year.
