Abstract
- A combination of Raman spectra and other techniques is employed to explain the synthesis, characterization and the emission properties of the [Y.sub.2-x][Ln.sub.x][Ti.sub.2][O.sub.7] (Ln = Eu and Gd, x = 0.0,0.05) compounds. Particle size and short range order are found to be the main factors leading to the changes observed in the emission intensity of [Eu.sup.3+].
