Abstract
- A study was conducted to examine the long-term clinical results of cell therapy in patients with burn-related corneal destruction associated with limbal stem-cell deficiency, a highly disabling ocular disease. The successful clinical results for the patients with limbal stem-cell deficiency who received cultured limbal stem-cell grafts for corneal transplantation revealed that cultures of limbal stem cells represent a source of cells for transplantation in the treatment of burn-induced destruction of the human cornea.
