Abstract
- The present study was carried out to assess the pharmacological potential towards Antitumor and antioxidant activity of Artemisia nilagirica (Clarke). Artemisia nilagirica (Clarke) shown significant tumor inhibition and decrease in viable cell count thereby increasing the lifespan of Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma (EAC) bearing mice and brought back hematological parameters to more or less normal level. The effect of Artemisia nilagirica (Clarke) also showed significant antioxidant activity as compared to EAC control mice. Artemisia nilagirica (Clarke) decreases lipid peroxidation level and increases glutathione (GSH), Catalase (CAT) and Superoxide dismutase(SOD) level as compared to EAC control mice. These indicate that the Artemisia nilagirica (Clarke) showed defence mechanism against free radicals.
