Abstract
- The U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCom) have both finally settled on the kind of planned gunship that will look very much like AC-130 gunships that are in combat since the Vietnam War. The USAF from 2011 will begin procuring 16 new C-130Js that will later be turned over to a contractor for conversion into gunships fitted with sensors and ground attack weapons.
