Heme proteins: the role of solvent in the dynamics of gates and portals

The effects of solvation on proteins dynamics are examined by using molecular dynamics simulations and myoglobin as a model system. The studies have shown that water is able to interact with proteins in diverse ways, which has led to different kinds of perturbations in their intrinsic dynamic behavior.
