Use of molecular models for active learning in biochemistry lecture courses

Abstract
- The effectiveness of using Darling or Maruzen molecular models in teaching biochemical structures is evaluated. Findings show that using these models and transparent ziplock plastic bags lead to students giving more sophisticated answers on their examination compared to the years when such activities were not implemented. Examples of active-learning strategies are also given.
