Abstract

The study attempts to evaluate the efficacy of newborn-care training in reducing the rate of perinatal mortality in developing countries. The results indicate that programs like Essential Newborn Care training of community-based attendants as well as subsequent training did not result in a reduction in neonatal death within 7 days after birth, but did result in a reduction in stillbirths.
