Abstract
- The impact of higher welfare support levels on school participation rates are examined to determine the validity of standard economic theory on education. A random sample of 18- to 25-yr. old single mothers is used for the study. Results show that increases in the welfare system do not significantly affect educational levels. This result contradicts most of the findings provided for in empirical literature.
