Abstract
- The hypothesis that problems in the relationship between siblings have an effect on well-being was investigated. Qualitative data on age-near same-sex siblings were gathered through open-ended questions. Multiple regression studies that controlled for socioeconomic status and size of social support network indicated that the application of positive cognitive evaluations of sibling problems is connected to positive affect but not to negative affect. Results also showed a linkage between sibling childhood experiences and well-being in adulthood.
