Abstract

Premature infants exposed to visual pattern displays in their incubators may derive benefits not matched by infants with no pattern displays. These benefits include reduced number of state changes, periods of quiet alertness, decreased heart rate and stronger visual skills. Such benefits may indicate that incubator displays foster behavioral organization development.
