Abstract
- A study show that the dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) decreases adipogenesis through the attenuation of preadipocyte growth and differentiation in primary cultures of stromal-vascular (SV) cells. The finding is based on experiments performed on pig and rat SV cells. For the proliferation assays, pig SV cells were isolated from dorsal subcutaneous adipose tissue of seven-day-old pigs and the rat SV cells were isolated from inguinal fat pads of five-week-old male rats. For the differentiation assays, pig and rat SV cells were laboratory grown in media containing DHEA.
