Misty (m) affects growth traits

The effect of the gene coding for the misty coat color mutation, m, on the growth traits of mice in a population segregating this gene in the absence of the obesity mutation diabetes gene to determine if this gene will compound the measurement of traits affected by the obesity gene. Results reveal that m affects growth rates, body length, body weight and inguinal adipose tissue mass. The implications of these findings on obesity gene research are discussed.
