Abstract

A study has been undertaken into the effects of nitrogen contents and substrate temperatures on the microstructure and magnetic properties of FeCoN films. TEM and x-ray Scherrer's equation analysis showed that grain size is around 13 nm for films with substrate temperature lower than 200 degrees C. This increases fast for films with substrate temperature higher than 300 degrees C. Saturation magnetization 4 pi M s of the optimum samples was 23.9 kG.
