The new breed of CRCs: the Internet is paving the way for new, more economical approaches to central reservations

The inclusion of the Internet for central reservations system and PMS data communication is one of the most interesting development in the CRS technology. US Franchise Systems' (USFS) 100 Microtel Inn and Suite properties are the first to implement such a system through a deal with the Global Hospitality solutions of Scottsdale, AZ for the development of the first CRS. Through the system, the hotel chain was able to decrease its corporate communication costs to $75 dollars a month. Other advantages and disadvantages of the system are discussed.
