Global positioning systems (GPS), which were thought to be the last word in aircraft navigation systems, is still susceptible to low power jamming by terrorists and other signal interference. GPS will not become a sole-means navigation system in the foreseeable future and instead will be used in conjunction with other systems such as the Wide Area Augmentation System, the Local Area Augmentation System, and instrument landing systems.
